Facade (ETICS)
Quick answer: For a 10 × 6 m facade with two windows and a door you need about 254 kg of ETICS adhesive (11 bags with 5% extra) and 2 rolls of mesh.
Facades, reveals, plinth, materials, profiles, anchors and quote
How the calculation works
In quick mode enter the net area, plinth, reveals and profile linear metres. In detailed mode draw the facades (rectangle, gable, trapezoid), add windows and doors with their position, reveal depth and finished sides, and the plinth height. The calculator works out the gross and net area, the plinth without double counting, reveals, profile linear metres along real edges, materials by zone, anchors by main and edge zone, a combined purchase list and an optional quote.
Formula and assumptions
Net = gross − openings; plinth = width × plinth height − parts of openings in the plinth; main facade = net − plinth. Reveals = depth × length of finished sides. Material = zone area × consumption; with reserve ×(1 + reserve), packs rounded up after adding all facades. Mesh in detailed mode: area × roll width ÷ (width − overlap). Anchors = main zone × density + edge zone × density.
Worked example
Facade 10 × 6 m, plinth 0.5 m, two windows 1.2 × 1.4 m and a door 1.0 × 2.1 m: gross 60 m², openings 5.46 m², plinth 4.5 m², main facade 50.04 m², reveals (15 cm, without the bottom side) 1.98 m² and 13.2 m. Adhesive 4.5 kg/m² × 56.52 m² = 254 kg, with 5 % reserve 11 bags. Mesh with a 10 cm overlap on a 1 m roll: 62.8 m² → 2 rolls.
More worked examples
- A gable 8 m wide with 3 m to the eaves and a 2 m gable: gross area 8 × 3 + 8 × 2 ÷ 2 = 32 m².
- Quick mode, 100 m² without openings: adhesive 450 kg, base coat 420 kg, mesh 110 m² (10 % for overlaps), 1.5 mm finish render 250 kg – net, before reserve.
Quick mode – net consumption with the default norms (no reserve)
| Area (m²) | Adhesive (kg) | Base coat (kg) | Mesh (m²) | Finish 1.5 mm (kg) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 225 | 210 | 55 | 125 |
| 100 | 450 | 420 | 110 | 250 |
| 150 | 675 | 630 | 165 | 375 |
| 200 | 900 | 840 | 220 | 500 |
| 300 | 1350 | 1260 | 330 | 750 |
What affects real consumption
- The make-up and consumptions of the specific ETICS system (data sheets, ETA).
- Number and position of openings, finished reveal sides and plinth details.
- Anchor density according to the design or system pattern, substrate and anchoring depth.
Common mistakes
- Counting all four reveals of every window although the bottom one (sill) is usually not finished.
- Counting the plinth both in the main facade and separately.
- Adding the mesh overlap allowance twice – as a real overlap and as a general percentage.
- Counting a corner shared by two facades on both facades.
Frequently asked questions
How does the calculator count reveals?
Only the sides you mark: reveal depth × length of those sides. The bottom of a window with a sill and the door threshold are not counted automatically, and corner and connection profiles follow the same sides.
Is the plinth counted twice?
No. The plinth is part of the facade: its area (without parts of openings in the plinth) is deducted from the main facade and calculated with its own material and finish.
Which area is labour charged on?
You can choose the net area or a rule that does not deduct small openings. That rule only changes the labour basis; board, adhesive and render quantities are always calculated from the real area.
Is my combination of products a certified ETICS system?
Not necessarily. The calculator clearly marks an own combination as such; only a manufacturer's system with its technical documentation is certified.
