Room wizard – materials from floor to ceiling
Pick a bedroom, living room, kitchen or bathroom: screed, leveller, floor with laying pattern, skim coat, paint, underfloor heating and AC in one list.
How the calculation works
After you pick a room, the wizard calculates the floor, perimeter, walls without doors and windows, and ceiling from length, width and height. Each step – screed, self-levelling compound, floor covering (tiles, laminate or parquet, microcement, epoxy), tiles above the worktop, skim coat and paint, underfloor heating and AC – uses the same formula as the individual calculator. Tile and plank counts come from the 2D planner laying pattern with real cuts, and the order of work and drying times from the work plan.
Frequently asked questions
How much material do I need to renovate a room?
It depends on the size and finishes. Example: a 4 × 3 m bedroom, 2.6 m high, with one window and one door has 12 m² of floor and about 33 m² of walls; skim coat and two coats of paint on walls and ceiling need about 68 kg of skim coat and 12 L of paint. The wizard calculates it for your dimensions.
What is a screed and how thick is it?
A screed is the cement layer under the floor covering. As a guideline (DIN 18560): bonded screed at least 25 mm, on a separating layer 35 mm, floating on insulation 45 mm, and over underfloor heating 45 mm above the pipes. Smaller unevenness is levelled with self-levelling compound.
Why does the tile count differ from the estimate by area?
The wizard counts tiles from the 2D planner laying pattern: every cut tile along a wall counts as a new tile, and the spare is added on top. The estimate by area is shown next to it for comparison.
In what order is the work done?
Screed, self-levelling compound, floor covering, then skim coat and paint. Each step shows the typical drying time before the next one; the product data sheet applies.
